NAMBALA QAM OF SAVANNAH

"Chaqamba"

Thanks to the wonderful connections made during the R. R. congress 2001, I was able to import a puppy from the Nambala Kennels. Our little "Chaqamba" arrived at Schipol Airport Amsterdam on Nov. 20th 2001, he was then 121/2 weeks old. Despite the fact that he had been traveling for more than 36hrs in a not too big crate, a very happy and confident pup stepped out , stretched his little legs and immediately attacked my shoe laces, much to the amusement of the entire office staff who had come out to view the wonder boy. Upon our arrival home he was "welcomed"by our 2 R R bitches {mother & daughter} They gave him a thorough going over and then proceeded to demonstrate their speed, strength and agility by staging a mock fight; he looked on from a safe distance, neither frightened or impressed. He very quickly settled into his new home, accepting cats, pony, chickens, bicycles, children, puppy school etc. Never showing signs of fear, shyness or aggression.
Now 3mths later he still treats Asonga {6yrs} with respect and adoration, wallowing at her feet if shown the least bit of attention by her; on the other hand Boshasa {21/2} he treats like a rag doll, hanging on her neck for most of the day, which she secretly enjoys. On Feb 23rd. one day after became 6mths. he attended his first show. R. R judge Mr Hiddes gave him an excellent report and the qualification "very very promising". I was very proud of him not only for his excellent exterior but most of all because of his "very very pleasing temperament" Thank you Rachel & Carol for entrusting me with this wonderful young dog.

UPDATE - July 2002

"Time for a quick update about Chaqamba. "

He is now 10 ½ months old and has developed into a very handsome young dog, who continues to charm everyone he comes in contact with.

On June 29 he entered his 1st "big' show.
The Swiss judge Hans Muller placed him 3rd in the youth class (9 - 18mths)… then 1 week later at the World Show, Amsterdam, the NL Judge Mevr. J C G Tresoor-Homan placed him 2 Excellent in the Youth Class… and when Mr T Thorn (UK) placed his 'sister' Boshasa Mystery of Savannah Winds' 1 Excellent CAC, CACIB Winster and World Champion our day was complete.
Chaqamba's report from the World Show - Dog of 10mths who shows himself very well. Beautiful head with beautiful dark eyes, good ear placement, beautiful neck, good shoulder, good front & chest, Beautiful top-line buy at this moment looks a little long in Loin, for his age very good movement. 2EX

World Champion Boshasa Mystery of Savannah Winds
Chaqamba's favorite pastimes, when he is not teasing our 2 girls, are hunting rabbits and swimming, he feels every much at home in the water as on land!!
We are still very happy with this young man and will keep you up-to-date with his progress

Mary Joshua-Nugent.

UPDATE - June 2003

Yesterday, 30/5/03, we went to the world show, what a busy day 254 Rhodesian Ridgebacks!!!!!!!
No, we didn't win but I was very pleased with Chaqamba, He was in the open class with 49 dogs, only 10 of them got an Excellent and he was one of the 10.
Hans Muller judged them and gave him a very good report. I was so proud of him, Boshasa was in the CH. class, 21 entries. She made it to the second round [8] but did not get a place. A beautiful bitch from Russia won her class.
A Dutch dog, Jockular Jamal Aquamarin, breeder J.Coppens was B O B.

Hans Muller's critique translated - Correct proportions, strong back [top line] good ridge muscular backhand, good bone, correct angulation, could have a little more chest, good head good teeth, strong neck, correct movement.
