NZ CHAMPION NAMBALA JALINGO

"Jonti"

After what seemed like months of waiting - six weeks in fact - the big day arrived when we went to Rachel's to collect our new puppy, Jonti… what excitement!
Prior to Jonti's arrival at our house, we thought we had done the wise thing, we bought a 'large kennel and run' in anticipation of him growing into a 'large' dog and needing his own space.
Mistake number one. We should in fact have bought him a Queen size bed, woolly underlay, soft sheets, duvet and pillows - because our Jonti likes only the best, as we soon found out!
His first night home I decided to sleep in the rumpus room with him to keep him company, he in his cosy bed complete with rugs, ticking clock, hot water bottle - the works, while I would sleep on the couch, not the most comfortable but bearable for one night. However that was not to be and six nights later we both decided there wasn't enough room for the two of us on the couch, so we adjourned upstairs to my bed where the duvet was much cosier and there was more room - and there we stayed. Before long Jonti was firmly part of our family. He soon found out who was 'boss' and he accepted the position!!
He has a fettish for perfumes, soaps, body crèmes, moisturisers, aftershave, in fact anything that has a smell. He grabs a cushion when visitors arrive and charges them with the pillow until he gets the attention he thinks he deserves - after all, everyone is his friend aren't they!!
Jonti is always ready for food, walks or sleep. Loves dancing with a partner - or he will grab his cushion and run around madly, if no partner is available. He is our champion and our family cant imagine a day without him. He is a lovely, gentle dog and friend.

HIS SHOW CAREER

Jonty had a short show career - was shown to his Championship Title and from then on only sparingly.
His major win was BEST IN SHOW at the Rhodesian Ridgeback Championship Show Judged by Sammy Wallace of Zimbabwe
